Metro East Youth Art Show
Coming April 27th!

Entry Rules 

Open to students in grades Pre-K – 12 that reside in the Metro East area. The show will be divided into three age groups: Pre-K — Grade 5, Grades 6— 8, and Grades 9— 12.

Grades 6 — 8 and grades 9 — 12 age groups will be judged and minimum of a first place prize for each category along with a Best in Show will be awarded. Awards will be at the sole discretion of the judges. 

 

Grades Pre-K — 5 age group is exhibition only but will receive a constructive and encouraging critique of their work. 

 

Pieces must be original, creative work. Limited to two entries per student. No entry fee required. 

 

If a work has multiple components, its entry will be reviewed by the Show Committee.

The Show Committee reserves the right to reject any entry that does not meet the eligibility requirements or is inappropriate for public exhibition.

The Show Committee reserves the right to use images of work and/or exhibition for publicity. By submission of entries, the artist accepts all conditions and terms set forth in this document.

Piece Requirements 

Maximum size for two-dimensional pieces for Grades 6 — 8 and grades 9 — 12 age groups is 16” x 20”, including matting and frame*. Work must be framed or on a hangable canvas. 

 

Maximum size for two-dimensional pieces for grades Pre-K – 5 age group is 11” x 14”, including matting*. Work does not need to be framed but must be able to be displayed on a wall or easel. *See Framing/Display resources 

 

Three-Dimensional pieces for all age divisions must be able to be displayed on a tabletop, and ready for display. Larger pieces must be reviewed by the Show Committee. 

 

Art must be ready for exhibition upon delivery. Framed entries larger than 11x14 must have secure wire across the back for hanging. Unframed art must have paper matting or be on a freestanding canvas or board.

Submission Guidelines 

Artist must submit entry form at https://mascoutahlibrary.com/art-show/​ (all submission link available on this page) beginning April 1st at 9:00am and ending April 19th at 6:00pm, or until we reach the limit of our space, whichever comes first. 

 

Entry items for grades 6 — 8 and grades 9 — 12 age groups along with a signed Artist Agreement must arrive at the Leu Civic Center Wednesday April 24th between 11:00am and 8:00pm or Thursday, April 25th between 11:00am and 8:00pm. No other drop off times will be available. 

 

Entry items for the Pre-K — grade 5 age group along with a signed Artist Agreement must arrive at the Mascoutah Public Library Wednesday April 24th between 9:00am and 7:30pm or Thursday, April 275h between 9:00am and 7:30pm. No other drop off times will be available. 

 

Pieces must remain with the show until Saturday, April 27th at 2pm. No entries may be removed earlier. 

 

Show pieces must be picked up and signed out, by the entrant or guardian only, April 27th 2:00-3:00pm. If these dates will not work, please see the Show Committee to make alternate arrangements. Do not remove pieces without signing out with an Art Show Staff Member. 

 

We will make one (1) attempt to contact the artists in regard to pick up. No efforts will be made to contact artists after one (1) attempt. Please provide reliable contact information. 

​

Items not retrieved by 6:00pm on Friday, May 3th become property of the Leu Civic Center and Mascoutah Public Library and may be disposed of.
