Service Description

Using a variety of strategies, students will improve their reading skills. Learning Goals: ● Improve phonemic awareness. ● Use strategies to improve decoding of unfamiliar words. ● Increase sight word vocabulary. ● Move from word calling to fluency in reading. ● Use context clues to gain better understanding of written passages. Activities: ● Use MindPlay online to develop phonemic awareness. ● Complete activities to strengthen areas of difficulty as identified by MindPlay and the teacher. ● Learn strategies for reading that can be applied outside the reading center. ● Choose and read a book for use at the reading center. ● Play games designed to reinforce reading skills. ● Complete projects and activities demonstrating reading skills for life. examples: following a recipe, filling out a form, completing a craft type project by reading directions, etc. ● Work one-on-one with the teacher. ● Complete periodic assessments to track progress. This is a free class!

Cancellation Policy

If you cancel up to 3 days prior to the event/ending of registration for class/club, you will receive a full refund with the exception of the processing fee. If you cancel after registration is closed but before the event/class begins you will receive the amount back minus the processing fee and the supply fee. If you cancel after a class/club has begun, money will not be refunded. ***If we as the Leu Civic Center cancel a class, you will receive a refund including the processing fee.
